About Craig Cole

Mr. Cole is a team leader and an avid lover of super light jets. He has piloted a great deal of small private jets and is in love with flying such beautiful and manoeuvrable jets. Craig leads the back-office team and loves to get his hands dirty if need be.

Embraer RJ145 – Regional Airliner (ERJ145)

Embraer RJ145 ( Regional Jet 145) The RJ145 is a 50 passenger regional airliner developed by Embraer, the Brazilian aerospace company best known for the Phenom and Legacy series of aircraft commonly used for private charter. At a maximum of 98 feet long, the Embraer RJ145 is the same length as many long ranged business jets such as the Gulfstream G650 (99 feet long) and the Bombardier Global Express 6000 (96 feet long). This regional airliner does not offer the same in-cabin amenities as it’s VIP configured long range jet counterpart, instead, all available cabin room is devoted to seating. The Embraer RJ145 allows for regional travel for large groups without having to fly in a commercial airliner. Since most large jets are limited to 19 passengers, the Embraer RJ145 fulfills the mid-range passenger count (30 - 50 passengers) at a reasonable hourly rate. Here we can see the cabin in a standard 2+1 configuration Embraer RJ145 Because the Embraer RJ145 is essentially a large private jet, the 50 passenger capacity of this aircraft severely limits its range to 1,017 nautical miles. This sort of range is normal for regional airliners, which tend to have a maximum range of slightly under 2,000 nautical miles. These aircraft are perfect for small domestic flights with up to 50 passengers. Most often configured in a 2+1 configuration, the ERJ145 maximizes the on-board space available for holding passengers. Chartering an ERJ145 can cost between $7,600 and $12,000 an hour depending on location and availability. U.S. based RJ145s tend to be under $10,000 an hour and when calculated for the maximum capacity of 50 passengers, this aircraft costs $200 per passenger per hour, which is remarkably inexpensive for a

Embraer Phenom 100

Embraer Phenom 100 In terms of VLJs the Embraer Phenom 100 is a stunningly engineered private jet. Embraer, known for their lineage and legacy series of private jets, introduced this aircraft in 2007 to challenge rival VLJs that were currently in production. Boasting a plethora of world’s firsts in VLJs, the Phenom 100, includes the largest cabin in its category, as well as a fully enclosed lavatory with rigid door and a fully flushable toilet. Innovation didn’t stop there though, this remarkable business jet is capable of cruising at 380 kts and at a climb ceiling of 41,000 ft, this coupled with its range of 1320 nautical miles gives it more range than its direct competitors. Typically configured for 4 passengers and 2 pilots, the Phenom 100 is certified for single pilot operations. The cabin is spacious with a cabin width of 5 feet 1 inch and a cabin height of 4 feet and 11 inches, though far from the cabin height of a much more spacious mid-sized jet or large jet, this aircraft is more than spacious enough for any very light jet. Capable of taking off and landing in under 3500 ft, the Phenom 100 allows access to smaller municipal airports, such as those only previously accessible by turboprops and pistons. The enormous 1780 lbf of thrust outputted per engine by the Pratt & Whitney PW 617F - E engines allow not only for short take-offs and landings, but also the climb rate of 3,030 ft/minute will get you to 37,000 ft cruising altitude much quicker and more comfortably than ever before. In-cabin amenities include, but are not limited to, fully controllable windows and lights, as well as, 2 separate temperature zones for

Private Jet Charter Cost – Very Light Jets

Private Jet Charter Cost - Very Light Jets (VLJ) Very light jets are a marvelous method of private air travel, allowing a smaller number of passengers than a light jet, and slightly reduces range. These Very light jets are perfect for small flights under 1,500 nautical miles. Normally configured for 4-6 passengers, very light jets are very easy to classify. Any jet aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight of under 10,000 lbs is considered a very light jet. While only capable of flights under 1,500 nmi, these very light jets can takeoff and land at smaller, municipal airports and have much lower operating costs than light jets do. Even though the operating cost of these aircraft are much lower, they still manage to fly at cruise speeds very close to those of a light jet. This opens a great deal of options if traveling smaller distances with a reduced passenger count. In terms of the private jet charter cost, a 1,000 nautical mile flight with 3 passengers on a light jet would cost approximately $3,000 an hour whereas on a very light jet, the cost comes down to a much more manageable $2,200 an hour. Both aircraft would take the same amount of time to complete the trip, and would be equally comfortable for the selected passenger count. The VLJ category of jets is very small, and is only home to a handful of aircraft. Many other very light jets are in development due to the success of the VLJs already in production. The most popular VLJs in development are: The HondaJet, Diamond D-Jet, eclipse 400, and the Cirrus Vision SF50. All of these aircraft have an estimated range of approximately 1,200 nautical miles and

Private Jet Cost Per Hour – Mid Sized Jets

Private Jet Cost Per Hour - Mid Sized Jets Mid sized jets account for a surprisingly large portion of jets in operation, though outnumbered by light jets. Mid sized jets are built for trips between 2,000 and 4,000 nautical miles, which is just able to make intercontinental flights possible. Boasting a much larger interior than light jets, and generally configured for the same amount of passengers, mid jets are much roomier and comfortable to fly in than nearly any light jet. The private jet cost per hour of these jets is usually $2,500 to $8,000 depending on model and location. The Bombardier learjet 45 for example, is a very small mid jet and is better categorized as a super sized light jet by many. Keep in mind, chartering a private jet in the United States will almost always guarantee a price on the lower end of the scale due to immense competition in the private jet charter market. Mid jets are no exceptions to this rule and can be easily rented for a decent fee. The costs per hour mentioned below are accurate, but do not include other fees such as airport take off or landing fees, crew fees, overnight and standby fees (if any) as well as much more. The pricing here is meant to give an estimated figure for chartering a specific jet compared to another jet in it’s category. For accurate pricing, you may use our booking engine by simply inputing your planned trip’s itinerary. The booking engine should be able to provide a very accurate web price that you may act on. Mid sized jets have a hourly private jet charter rate roughly double that of a light jet, and roughly

Cessna Citation X+

Aircraft of the Week - Cessna Citation X+ The Citation X+ is a Mid Sized Jet produced by Cessna. The Citation X+ is a very unique aircraft when considering the cruise speed and top speed of such an aircraft. The Citation X+ allows you to fly at mach .935 or 711 miles per hour, making this aircraft the fastest operating business jet ever made. The X+ is based off of the Citation X which was first developed in 1996. Changes from its predecessor include a 14.9 in longer cabin, 0.8 in of extra height, a 5.6 ft increase in wingspan, an increase in maximum takeoff weight to 36,600 lb and a 26 nautical mile increase in range up to 3,242 nautical miles. The original Citation X was a very similar aircraft, lacking winglets on the wingtips and not as easily distinguishable from the X+ as you may imagine. The X+ has 2 Rolls-Royce AE3007C2 turbofan engines capable of pushing 7,034 lbs of thrust (quite a feat considering the engine size) Able to takeoff in 5,250 feet, this is a pretty large runway requirement when compared to smaller business jets, but just about right for a jet like the X+. What the X+ lacks in takeoff distance, it easily makes up for in climb rate. The X+ climbs at 4,117 feet per minute (one of the fastest climb rates we’ve seen in an aircraft of this type). The all new cabin design offers expanded legroom and allows the Citation X+ to reach new levels of comfort, the X+ has a partial galley and a full sized lavatory, something unexpected from a Citation aircraft, the X+ is one of the largest cabin aircraft made by Cessna thus

The Most Expensive Private Jets Available

The Most Expensive Private Jets Available   Ultra VIP 747 The Boeing 747 is known for being the one of the notoriously fuel consuming aircraft, with a very high cost of operation. A brand new 747-8 can cost upwards of $350 million in a standard configuration. It is technically possible to spend over $80 million building a custom ultra VIP interior easily making it the most expensive private jet of all time. Boeing 747s are becoming increasingly difficult to find for private ownership, as many of the 747s in circulation have been moved to the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. Since the Boeing 747 offers near-unparralleded cabin space, as well as massive intercontinental range, it makes the Boeing 747 VIP one of the greatest private aircraft to have, as well as the title for most expensive private jet. Boeing BBJ3 The BBJ3 is technically the most expensive private jet, as it is built for ultra VIP configurations right off of the assembly line, while the larger 747 is configured with a standard 1-3 class configuration including hundreds of seats. The BBJ3 is based on the preexisting Boeing 737-900ER, an extended range variant of the 737-900, this makes the BBJ3 capable of flying nearly 5,500 nautical miles, a tad shorter than the range of the BBJ2, but with a much larger cabin and higher airspeed. Costing anywhere from $75-90 million, this widebody easily makes the list of most expensive private jets. Gulfstream G650ER Gulfstream’s latest and greatest ultra long business jet is capable of flying 7,500 nautical miles, utterly destroying the competing long range business jets and even commercial airliners. Costing a hefty $64.5 million, this jet is the most expensive private jet in it’s category

Dassault Falcon 5X Specifications and Charter Info

Dassault Falcon 5X Specifications and Charter Info The Falcon 5X is marketed by Dassault Aviation as their biggest and most advanced jet as of yet. First introduced in 2013, and aiming for a first flight early next year, the Falcon 5X boasts a hefty 5,200 nmi range and great fuel efficiency. This all new business jet features a groundbreaking 6 foot 6 inch high cabin, enough room to stand up in the cabin comfortably, and putting other large jets in its category to shame. Featuring efficient and environmentally friendly Safran Snecma Silvercrest Engines, which Dassault Aviation claims "this can make the aircraft as much as 50% more efficient on short missions” this is of course when compared to jets within its category, large jets tend to burn a great deal of fuel and the 5X looks to be a great business jet in terms of operating cost. The Falcon 5Xs range of 5,200 nmi makes the 5X capable of flying from New York to nearly any location in South America, Europe, and parts of Africa as well as Asia. Expected to be capable of taking off and landing in under 6000 ft, and featuring a cruise altitude of between 41,000 and 45,000 ft as well as a top speed of mach .90 which essentially makes this aircraft tied for the title of fastest business jet (referring to the Ciation X of course). Dassault also claims that this aircraft will in some circumstances be capable of using runways under 4,000 ft., which would make this an excellent aircraft for all sorts of private flights, the downside to larger aircraft is the immense runway length required to take off or land, which means customers will very often

Private Charter Flights to Van Nuys Airport

Private Charter Flights to Van Nuys Airport Just as Teterboro is the major charter hub for the northeastern united states, Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles is the most common executive airport in the southwest. Averaging over 1200 landings and takeoffs a day, Van Nuys airport is without doubt a massive executive airport. No commercial flights originate or terminate here, making this a purely privately used airport. Just within the city limits of Los Angeles and spanning over a 730 acre area, Van Nuys airport is located 30 minutes away from downtown Los Angeles or the West Hollywood / Beverly Hills area. Van Nuys serves as a major airport to reduce congestion at the nearby Los Angeles International (LAX) airport. In terms of practicality, flying to Van Nuys is faster and easier than flying in to LAX whist flying private. With no international terminals and long TSA and security checks, aircraft are able to land and takeoff with little delay, using any of the Fixed Base Operators (FBOs) as a terminal instead of having to go through the hassle of airport terminal lines. With two major runways, spanning 4,000 ft and 8,000 ft respectively, aircraft as large as an airliner can land here without an issue, meaning any large scale charter aircraft such as a regional jet or a BBJ can land in Van Nuys without issue. Security and safety are an important aspect of any airport, an the Van Nuys airport boasts 24 hour patrols and other services to ensure airfield security. This coupled with the 4 FBOs located at Van Nuys offering their own security and safety precautions. Van Nuys remains one of our favorite executive airports in the world. Most customers prefer to land

Eclipse 550

Saturdays Aircraft of the Week - Eclipse 550 The Eclipse 550 is a 4 passenger VLJ (very light jet) capable of flying 1,125 nmi at a maximum cruise speed of 430 mph. A max range of 1,125 mmi is quite a short distance in the private jet game, but we do not give the title of AOTW (aircraft of the week) lightly. 1,125 mmi is enough range to fly between New York and The Bahamas without a fuel stop. East coast to west coast flights will require a fuel stop, but this aircraft is not designed for cross continental flights. The eclipse 550 is a updated version of the already commonly usedEclipse 500, with updated avionics and safety features. The Eclipse 550 burns a maximum of 59 gallons an hour with it’s tiny engines, over double the fuel economy of any standard light jet, also making it the most fuel efficient twin-jet aircraft in production worldwide. This VLJ is one of the most maneuverable and flexible light jets available for charter. With the ability to take off in under 2,500 ft, and land in under 2,800 ft, this aircraft is capable of landing at nearly every airport in the world. The Eclipse 550 is a pilot’s dream; it’s one of the smallest, most advanced very light jet in the world, with features such as Terrain Awareness Warning System, DME (allowing for international flights), Auto throttle as part of the autopilot systems. Eclipse has already proven themselves with the Eclipse 500, and managed to make a second revision in very little time with features on par with much larger more expensive aircraft, all of this while maintaining an unbeatable cost of under $3,000,000. In terms of charter, an
