Best Private Jet Posts from 2014

Pilatus PC-24 Unveiled at EBACE14 An unexpected aircraft from Pilatus, the PC-24, was the least expected from a company best known for their piston aircraft. This private jet will be capable of takeoffs in 2690 feet, giving the PC-24 access to 21,000 airports ad airstrips that larger aircraft cannot access. Estimated to cost approximately $9 Million and expected to ship in 2017. This SVJ (Super Versatile Jet) will be capable of 1800 nm range with 6 passengers on board. Not bad Pilatus! Read More   How a Wet Lease Works Here the basics of wet lease or ACMI are detailed and compared to traditional charter. Wet leasing an aircraft means nearly full ownership of said aircraft for the duration of the lease, whereas charter is more commonly billed and executed based on the actual hours of aircraft usage, allowing other passengers to use the aircraft while unused during brief waiting periods (1-5 Days). Read More   Turboprops vs Light Jets Turboprops are often looked down upon with no apparent reason. Fears of noisy cabins and safety are the most common misconceptions, as is comfort. Modern day turboprops are just as quiet as their light jet counterparts, and offer the same safety and comfort features. Without in-depth knowledge, it is hard to distinguish light jets from turboprop interiors, the similarity is striking. Read More   Air Share Programs vs Private Jet Charter Air share programs are ripped apart in this article, where some basic knowledge and math come together to disprove the cost-effectiveness of air share programs. Though air share programs do excel in some other aspects and each method of private jet time ownership is built for a specific type of customer. Nevertheless traditional charter come out on top

Private Jet Charter Cost – Very Light Jets

Private Jet Charter Cost - Very Light Jets (VLJ) Very light jets are a marvelous method of private air travel, allowing a smaller number of passengers than a light jet, and slightly reduces range. These Very light jets are perfect for small flights under 1,500 nautical miles. Normally configured for 4-6 passengers, very light jets are very easy to classify. Any jet aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight of under 10,000 lbs is considered a very light jet. While only capable of flights under 1,500 nmi, these very light jets can takeoff and land at smaller, municipal airports and have much lower operating costs than light jets do. Even though the operating cost of these aircraft are much lower, they still manage to fly at cruise speeds very close to those of a light jet. This opens a great deal of options if traveling smaller distances with a reduced passenger count. In terms of the private jet charter cost, a 1,000 nautical mile flight with 3 passengers on a light jet would cost approximately $3,000 an hour whereas on a very light jet, the cost comes down to a much more manageable $2,200 an hour. Both aircraft would take the same amount of time to complete the trip, and would be equally comfortable for the selected passenger count. The VLJ category of jets is very small, and is only home to a handful of aircraft. Many other very light jets are in development due to the success of the VLJs already in production. The most popular VLJs in development are: The HondaJet, Diamond D-Jet, eclipse 400, and the Cirrus Vision SF50. All of these aircraft have an estimated range of approximately 1,200 nautical miles and

Global Express 6000

Aircraft of the Week - Global Express 6000 The Bombardier global express 6000 is an aircraft well known in the business aviation community and beyond. Global Express has become synonymous with top-end luxury. Occasionally, it is hard to group business jets into categories, jets like the Learjet 45 for example is hard to classify as a Light Jet or a Mid jet and is often put into a “Super Light Jet” category that sits between the two. The Global express 6000 is undoubtedly a long ranged heavy jet, there is no doubt about this aircraft. At nearly 100 feet long and with a 94 foot wingspan, this aircraft is a giant. Boasting a 6 ft 2 inch cabin height and a 7 foot 11 inch cabin width at it’s widest point, the Global Express 6000 cabin is not only tall enough for the majority of passengers, but also wide enough to accommodate a full sized bed and full sized bathroom with a shower. The cabin is filled with natural light though it's 28 large squared windows, which at a glance from outside, look very small, but once in the cabin, you can see the massive size of these windows. The Global 6000 offers a range of features, both expected and unexpected for a private aircraft of this size. The forward area of the cabin can house a crew rest area, allowing for the capability of swapping crews to allow longer flights with little risk of tired crews. Behind this area is a full sized galley, which traditionally hosts a large area to hold and prepare even the most difficult of foods. The cabin itself has dedicated temperature zones, allowing different parts of the cabin to

Hourly Private Jet Prices – Light Jets

Hourly Private Jet Prices - Light Jets Light jets are the backbone to the private jet charter industry. Light jets account for the largest portion of aircraft, narrowly beating turboprops and piston aircraft. Hourly private jet prices for the light jet category of private jets depend on location primarily, and tend to have a higher hourly charter rate outside of the United States. Since the United States is home to approximately 70% of the light jets available for charter, there is much more demand, and therefor much more competition in the industry. Light Jets can differ in hourly rate depending on the year of manufacture and the amount of flight hours on the aircraft in question, but generally cost approximately $2,000 to $5,000 an hour to charter. For shorter flights under 1,800 nautical miles, light jets are the best choice in terms of aircraft hourly charter rate, and generally seat 7 or 8 passengers comfortably. The in cabin-amenities differ from model to model and year from year, but generally include an in flight entertainment system, which may be comprised of both audio and video playback, as well as a partial lavatory and occasionally a partial (though hidden) galley. In-flight WiFi can be found on many newer light jets. In terms of the total cost to charter an aircraft, hourly private jet rates account for the majority of the costs, but other costs such as landing and takeoff fees, as well as standby and overnight fees (if applicable) can all play a large role in determining the actual cost of chartering a private jet. Using only the hourly rate for an example trip from New York to Florida, we can assume a total of 6 hours

Our Favorite Private Jet Moments from 2014

Our Favorite Private Jet Moments from 2014 Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Aircharter.com team! We here at Aircharter love our private jet photos, and included are our favorite 7 photos from 2014. Featured above was our aircraft of choice for transporting the Ghana National team to the FIFA World Cup in June of 2014. The flight testing LearJet 85, shown here arriving in Orlando for NBAA2014. At this point, this Learjet had completed over 60 successful test flights. Starting with it's first flight in spring of 2014, this aircraft has never ceased to amaze, as the largest, and fastest learjet ever made. Capable of transporting 8 passengers up to 3,000 nautical miles. The learjet 85 teaser. At this point, we had yet to see anything except cabin mockups and approximate specifications. Later in 2014, flight testing would begin for expected delivery in 2016 or 2017. This angle of the learjet 85 makes the aircraft look much larger than it actually is, perhaps foreshadowing a mid sized lear sometime soon. The interior of a mockup Gulfstream G600 shown at NBAA2014, an all new aircraft to join the Gulfstream family. As it's name suggests, this will be right in between the G550 and G650 in terms of size and range capabilities. This large jet can be configured for up to 19 passengers with a very long cabin that while smaller than the G650, feels very comfortable. A G550 at the Marrakesh Airshow in spring 2014. Private Jet Cost Per Hour – Mid Sized Jets

Private Jet Cost Per Hour - Mid Sized Jets Mid sized jets account for a surprisingly large portion of jets in operation, though outnumbered by light jets. Mid sized jets are built for trips between 2,000 and 4,000 nautical miles, which is just able to make intercontinental flights possible. Boasting a much larger interior than light jets, and generally configured for the same amount of passengers, mid jets are much roomier and comfortable to fly in than nearly any light jet. The private jet cost per hour of these jets is usually $2,500 to $8,000 depending on model and location. The Bombardier learjet 45 for example, is a very small mid jet and is better categorized as a super sized light jet by many. Keep in mind, chartering a private jet in the United States will almost always guarantee a price on the lower end of the scale due to immense competition in the private jet charter market. Mid jets are no exceptions to this rule and can be easily rented for a decent fee. The costs per hour mentioned below are accurate, but do not include other fees such as airport take off or landing fees, crew fees, overnight and standby fees (if any) as well as much more. The pricing here is meant to give an estimated figure for chartering a specific jet compared to another jet in it’s category. For accurate pricing, you may use our booking engine by simply inputing your planned trip’s itinerary. The booking engine should be able to provide a very accurate web price that you may act on. Mid sized jets have a hourly private jet charter rate roughly double that of a light jet, and roughly

Super Mid Sized Jets – Private Plane Charter Cost

Super Mid Sized Jets - Private Plane Charter Cost Each type of aircraft has it’s own price range for it’s hourly cost. A super mid sized jet private plane charter cost can vary greatly, as many aircraft are put in to the super mid sized category. Super mid sized jets are of course smaller than large jets, but in which way? Large jets are generally configured for up to 19 passengers, or most commonly in the range of 12-16 passengers in a much more spacious cabin environment. Super mid sized jets are built on a mid sized jet architecture and are more closely related to mid sized jets than their large jet counterparts. Generally, a super mid sized jet can seat up to 14 passengers, but are most commonly configured in 7-9 seat configurations. Mid sized jets tend to have narrow cabins and can get cramped quickly, but super mid sized jets offer a larger cabin in almost every case. The approximate range of super mid sized jets starts at approximately 2,200 nautical miles, and stop short of 4,000 nautical miles. Keep in mind, for transcontinental flights and even longer domestic flights, a super mid sized jet is sufficient in range to make your trip without a fuel stop. Super mid sized private plane charter costs can be anywhere between $3,000 to $9,000 an hour typically, with some outliers such as the Dassault Falcon 50 which is an older aircraft and can be found for much more competitive prices in the United States. The cost of chartering a super mid sized jet is best suited for longer range trips (over 2,000 nautical miles) for around 8-9 passengers. Any longer itinerary or larger amount of passengers

Large Jets – Private Jet Cost per Hour

Large Jets - Private Jet Cost per Hour One of the advantages of private jet charter is paying for the hours you fly. Your private jet cost per hour can easily be used to estimate the cost of a trip, though other tools can give a much more accurate estimate; our booking engine for example can calculate with near flawless accuracy nearly every itinerary you can think of. Large jets account for a major part of the private jet workforce, and have a reputation for being a very comfortable way to travel. Some long ranged jets offer the same in-cabin space and features as long range jets, but lack in range. For domestic trips or even standard international flights, a large jet is usually more than sufficient in terms of range, speed and comfort. Large jets typically cost between $4,000 and $10,000 an hour to charter. Keep in mind that this rate is for actual airtime, and also the airtime for the aircraft to fly to pick you up at your departure location, as well as the cost of ferrying the aircraft back to it’s base are are included in the calculations. Though as previously noted in the previous article about long ranged jets, finding an empty leg is not difficult given enough warning and time to search for a suitable aircraft, in which case, you would only be responsible for the airtime you personally use. Large jets as a whole have a reasonable hourly cost for charter, while long range jets start at approximately $8,000 an hour, large jets offer that starting at half of the price. Large jets traditionally have a range under 4,000 nautical miles, which is still more than enough for

Super Long Ranged Jets – Private Jet Cost per Hour

Super Long Ranged Jets - Private Jet Cost per Hour We begin our multi-part article about the approximate private jet cost per hour for each major aircraft category. We will begin with Long Ranged Large Jets or heavy jets. Afterwards, we will discuss large jets, mid sized and super mid sized jets, light jets and very light jets, turboprops and pistons, and finally widebody airliners and VIP airliners. We begin with long ranged jets as they are a tightly knit category, where there majority of the aircraft have the same cabin size and allow very long ranged flights. Notable heavy jets are the Gulfstream G650, the Bombardier Global Express 5000, 6000, and XRS, Dassault’s Falcon 7X, as well as many others. More in depth information can be found on our aircraft guide by choosing Long Range Jet from the categories. The private jet cost per hour for long range jets is usually, if not always $8,000 to $19,000 per hour. This may be quite a range, but keep in mind these rates vary greatly depending on wether these aircraft are chartered in the united states or elsewhere in the world, the hourly rate for private aircraft in the united states is usually less costly than chartering in Europe or Asia due to a large amount of available jets in the united states which creates competition in terms of aircraft’s hourly rental rate. Also, aircraft such as the Gulfstream G500 date back to the 1990s, and while well maintained and completely refurbished on the interior, these remain older aircraft, which make them less costly to charter per hour. These are real world figures from our database of over 10,000 aircraft worldwide. The cost per hour will

Cessna Citation X+

Aircraft of the Week - Cessna Citation X+ The Citation X+ is a Mid Sized Jet produced by Cessna. The Citation X+ is a very unique aircraft when considering the cruise speed and top speed of such an aircraft. The Citation X+ allows you to fly at mach .935 or 711 miles per hour, making this aircraft the fastest operating business jet ever made. The X+ is based off of the Citation X which was first developed in 1996. Changes from its predecessor include a 14.9 in longer cabin, 0.8 in of extra height, a 5.6 ft increase in wingspan, an increase in maximum takeoff weight to 36,600 lb and a 26 nautical mile increase in range up to 3,242 nautical miles. The original Citation X was a very similar aircraft, lacking winglets on the wingtips and not as easily distinguishable from the X+ as you may imagine. The X+ has 2 Rolls-Royce AE3007C2 turbofan engines capable of pushing 7,034 lbs of thrust (quite a feat considering the engine size) Able to takeoff in 5,250 feet, this is a pretty large runway requirement when compared to smaller business jets, but just about right for a jet like the X+. What the X+ lacks in takeoff distance, it easily makes up for in climb rate. The X+ climbs at 4,117 feet per minute (one of the fastest climb rates we’ve seen in an aircraft of this type). The all new cabin design offers expanded legroom and allows the Citation X+ to reach new levels of comfort, the X+ has a partial galley and a full sized lavatory, something unexpected from a Citation aircraft, the X+ is one of the largest cabin aircraft made by Cessna thus
